What is useful to have ready
None of this is required and none of it replaces a site visit, so please do not go out and measure anything on our account. Four answers do get us a long way toward a real figure rather than a range, and most people have them off the top of their head:
- Roughly where the pool would go in the yard.
- How much the ground slopes there. Even a rough description, such as it dropping about the height of a person across the back of the yard, is useful.
- Septic or sewer. On a septic property the system decides where a pool can sit, and it is often the first thing that shapes the design.
- How wide and how steep the access is. Driveway width, turns, low branches and overhead power lines. More pools around here are decided by the way in than by the yard itself.
If you already know which kind of pool you want, say so and we will start there. Most people do not know yet, and that is completely normal. Very few people settle on a type before they have seen which ones their property will actually take.
What happens next
A phone call first, and a short one. We will ask what you are picturing, whereabouts you are, and whether there is anything about your property we ought to know before anybody drives out to it.
Then a site visit, which is the part that does the real work. We measure how much the ground slopes, how deep the rock is, where water runs in a heavy rain, how wide the driveway is and how far it is to your electrical panel. We also locate the septic tank, the drain field and the reserve area. Measuring all of that turns a price range into a figure you can rely on.
Then a written quote, put together against what we actually measured on your property, with the ground work itemized instead of buried in one line. We will sit down and go through it with you, and you are welcome to ask what any of it is for.
Where two of the pool types would work on your property, we will go through both with you and be straight about what you give up either way. Where only one works, we will tell you that instead of talking you around the others.
