Pool Installation in Fletcher, NC

Fletcher is one of the easier places in this region to put in a pool. Pool Builders of Asheville installs precast concrete, fiberglass, gunite and shipping container pools across Fletcher and Henderson County, and on ground this level, most lots can take a bigger pool than people expect.

Pool installation for Fletcher properties

Fletcher is good ground for a pool, and much of the town is close to level. Equipment can generally get where it needs to be, and we install all four shell types here: precast, fiberglass, gunite and container. Having the full range available means there is a workable option for almost any lot in town.

Level ground also means a bigger pool is realistic. On a steep lot the site work quietly eats the budget, whereas in much of Fletcher it does not.

The town sits at about 2,116 feet, twelve miles down US 25 from Asheville, wrapped around the Asheville Regional Airport. The French Broad River forms the western edge of town, and the ground between the river and the airport is close to level river-valley bottom. On a lot like that the digging is straightforward, a crane can get where it needs to be, and the money goes into the pool and what surrounds it rather than into moving earth.

Head east toward Hoopers Creek and Burney Mountain and the land starts climbing. Head south toward Cane Creek and you are into rolling ground with real grade on it. Two properties four miles apart, both with a Fletcher address, can be completely different projects.

Water is the other Fletcher-specific factor. Low ground close to the French Broad can carry a high water table, poor drainage, or floodplain constraints that decide where a pool can legally and sensibly sit. On a property like that, where the water goes matters more than almost anything else about the design, and it needs answering before the shape of the pool is settled rather than after.

The county line runs through Fletcher, and it matters

The county line catches people out, because a pool permit follows the parcel and not the mailing address. Fletcher is in Henderson County, but the Fletcher mailing address reaches north across the Buncombe County line toward Long Shoals Road.

So two neighbors can have the same address format and file with different counties, which means a different office, different inspectors and different scheduling. We check the parcel before anything is submitted, and permitting is handled end to end either way, so you do not file anything or chase an inspector.

Building in Fletcher

Every property around Fletcher is different from the one next to it. The site visit is where we measure everything that decides the price. We check how much the ground slopes and how deep the rock is. We also locate the septic system and measure the access.

Which pools suit Fletcher lots

On the flatter ground near the airport and the river, all four shell types are usually on the table, which is a genuinely good position to be in. The decision comes down to what you want rather than what the site will tolerate: precast and fiberglass for speed, gunite if the design needs a shape or a size nothing is molded in.

Level ground is also the case where a larger pool makes sense. On a steep lot the site work eats the budget. Here it does not, so more of what you spend shows up as pool.

On the steeper ground east toward Hoopers Creek, access usually decides it before anything else. Where a crane cannot reach a large one-piece shell, a container pool or a compact precast shell often still can, and gunite is built in place so it needs no delivery at all.

Where drainage is the constraint, the pool frequently wants to sit raised rather than sunk, which turns retaining you would have needed anyway into part of the finished structure.

What a pool costs in Fletcher

Installed ranges are the same as anywhere we work: container pools from around $55,000, fiberglass from $60,000 and precast from $65,000, both running up to around $150,000, and gunite from $90,000 upward.

What moves you inside those ranges is your lot and the pool you choose. Fletcher’s level ground genuinely helps at the lower end, because grading and digging is the biggest single variable in this region and there is simply less of it to do. The rest is size and everything you put around the pool: decking, patio, a shaded area, tile, rockwork.

What actually drives pool cost here

One company, one quote

The grading, the pool, the decking, the lighting and the planting run as one project on one schedule, rather than five separate trades for you to coordinate.

We handle the permitting from application through final inspection, so you do not file anything and you do not chase an inspector.

A longer season at this elevation

At just over 2,100 feet Fletcher sits lower than much of Western North Carolina, and midsummer takes care of itself.

The season is decided at the other end of the year. May and September are the months that separate a pool you use for three months from one you use for six, and at this elevation the limit is not air temperature but water temperature. Clear mountain nights pull heat out of a pool fast, so an unheated pool gives back overnight much of what the day put in and takes weeks longer to warm up in spring.

A heat pump and a cover actually buy you a usable May and a usable October here, not a better July.

Fletcher, NC FAQs

Which county issues my pool permit in Fletcher?

It depends on where your property actually sits, not what your mail says. The town is in Henderson County, but the Fletcher mailing address reaches north across the Buncombe County line. We check the parcel before anything is filed, and we handle the permit either way.

Is Fletcher good ground for a pool?

Some of the best around here. The land between the airport and the river is close to level, which means less grading, easier crane access and more of your budget going into the pool instead of into moving dirt.

My lot is near the French Broad. Does that cause problems?

It is worth checking early rather than late. Low ground near the river can carry a high water table or floodplain constraints that affect where a pool can go. That is a site-visit question, and it shapes the design rather than ending it.

How much does a pool cost in Fletcher?

Most land between $60,000 and $150,000 installed depending on the shell. Fletcher's flatter lots tend to sit lower in the range than a steep lot elsewhere, because grading is the biggest single cost driver in this region.
